Sonic, online co-op confirmed for Smash Bros Brawl

Nintendo has announced at their fall press conference (via IGN) that Sonic the Hedgehog, having already put aside 16-bit differences to challenge Mario in the Olympics, has joined the lineup for Smash Bros. Brawl. A new trailer was shown at the event that shows him transforming into Super Sonic. Anyone want to take bets on what his down+B special move is going to be?

Also announced was the inclusion of online cooperative play. While North American Smash Bros. fans might be finding it hard to wait until December 3 to pick up the game, Japanese gamers have it even harder - Nintendo also announced that Brawl isn't hitting Japan until January 24, 2008.

I will enjoy going back and forth playing Brawl and Halo 3 online, so all of you that have to stereotype everyone into little fanboy categories can suck it.

lol no way this will even come close to halos sales. this past weekend had over 1 million people playing halo 3 online at the same time. Thats more users then go online then any game on the wii combined.

Smash bros does look like a fun game, but i feel it will suffer the fait of smash bros melle, which is become unplayed after a few weeks when you realise theirs no online play. (I know SBB has online play but its lame and all friends codish)

Ill head over to my brothers wii to play the game a bit, but unless nintendo comes out with some sort of proper online system, or I travel back in time to when i was a teenager who played games with his friends after school, Ill be moving along.

Smash Bros and Halo are very close is popularity...

Halo 2 (Xbox) - 8 million
SMB Melee (GC) - 6 million
Halo 1 (Xbox) - 5 million
SMB (N64) - 5 million

Given the popularity of the Wii, it's very possible for Brawl to outsell Halo 3.

No Shi'ite. I still could do a pickup game of Mario Kart. Frankly, I don't know what the obsession is about downplaying a good game, regardless of console. I may not get the obsession over Halo 3, but that doesn't mean I think that Halo has a bad story or is a bad game.

We have gotten the Wii and DS before Japan did. And their big launch titles (SM64DS and LoZ: TP) before Japan, too. Various other JP-developed titles do get released in America, first.

Brawl is going to be game of the year and be the most awesome thing ever.

Finally Sonic vs. Mario fights I have been dreaming of since I was like 10. It almost makes me cry of joy.

Brawl has been confirmed for online fighting for a while now.

First, I find out Brawl will be playable at E for All...and now Sonic is in it...though I wouldn't mind if he wasn't, but still...

This IS the best October of my life (so far!).

They also announced that the new Mario Kart on Wii will have MOTORCYCLES in it! What the eff!?!?!? I'm choking to death on my own excitement.

And the Wii will have a DS demo station channel.

And the voting channel will start to let you vote for your favorite games and pick other games you might like based on your tastes.

Square-Enix is supporting Wii Ware big time, and will have a new Crystal Chronicles game exclusive to the Wii Ware channel in Japan in March. It's an online-focused game that has you build your own country somehow.
